Cultivating Deep Roots

We champion sustainable local policies designed to protect our natural resources and support neighborhood growth from the ground up.

Room to Bloom

Every resident deserves access to clean air, vibrant community gardens, and the civic tools required to participate actively in our local ecosystem.

Stewardship

Transparent Representation

Our campaign is built on human-scale representation that prioritizes the health of our local ecosystem over corporate interests and dark money.

I believe in the access of all women to comprehensive reproductive health care.

I believe the miracle of life is just that, miraculous. The more we understand about life, the more incredible it is. As such, it should be respected, admired and revered. With such admiration, the termination of any life for any reason should be done with solemn deliberation and only as a last resort.

I believe nobody is “pro-abortion”, not even the people who get paid to perform them. No one leaves an abortion and says, “boy that was great, when can I do it again?” or expresses jealousy over their friends or co-workers for their getting an abortion.

I believe that when polled, most women cite concerns over affordability as reasons for abortion. So, if we want to actually impact abortion, we need to prioritize affordable medical care, child care, housing, and nutrition, making pro-life application to life after birth.

I believe we will continue to argue about the issue of abortion until we develop a culture that celebrates each pregnancy. I believe this will not happen till we eliminate unplanned pregnancies … which will not happen until we start attributing the responsibility of men in the pregnancy to be, at the very least, equal to women.

I believe we should stop talking about “what education costs” and consistently replace that with “our investment in education”. Recognizing expenditures as investments makes it a lot easier to justify the funding and allows for better language to discuss assessing return on investment.

I believe there is no better place to invest much of our budget surplus than in education. Every time an employee or executive is asked to move to Arkansas to develop a company, business or industry, the first question is always “what is the education system like there?”; if you want to improve your real estate value – the first question perspective buyers always ask is, “what are the schools like”; if you want to improve the economy, you have to build an educated skilled workforce. We can make no better investment, than in our children and public education.

I believe it takes a village to raise a child. We should all work together to be a good village.

I believe that as “the Natural State”, we should be doing everything we can to protect our primary asset, nature and not sell out our natural resources to corporate profiteers.

I believe that our state is blessed with a healthy farming industry and that it should be prioritized and independent farmers should be supported whenever possible. I believe that though we may have “Data farms” where data is stored in bits and “Bytes” all available for people to “consume”, we cannot sacrifice resources when we are ranked as the most food insecure state in the country for three consecutive years.

I believe that when ninety eight percent of the world’s climatologist warn of impending climate changes, it would be most wise to heed those warnings and to support and pursue alternate energy sources and every effort available at conservation.

I believe that every country has the right and responsibility to protect their citizens and to establish its own immigration laws and that our laws should be well established and consistent and that they should not be subject to the comings and goings of any administration.

I believe that many people live in many very poor regional conditions and are subject to violence and persecution that most of us can’t imagine. And I believe that if we traded shoes, we would want to come to America to better our lot in life and provide for our family just like they do. We are all descedants of such people and should not begrudge others the opportunity of our families a generation or two ago. What made America Great was the melting pot that capitalized on the very best of everything all the world had to offer. I believe in America, we are smart and resourceful. We are capable to establish reasonable guidance to better our country through immigration.

I believe we already have socialized medicine; between Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA, the military and government employees, over half the country is already in a government sponsored health care system. Expanding a more comprehensive universal medical care program would bring more access to more care to more people and by incorporating better preventative care we could have a healthier society for less. We could still argue over specifics of what is and isn’t included in the base program and still have insurance options for those things that aren’t included.

I believe in letting the medical professionals determine community guidelines for medical care that relates to both the individual and the “herd”.

I believe in the Second Amendment … after all, it’s a part or our Constitution, and so important that it was made Second! BUT I don’t believe that expecting teachers to be caring and compassionate with those things we (should) treasure most one minute, then an armed trained commando the next, is a bit unrealistic.

I believe in the Second Amendment, BUT I believe we can enact meaningful structure without obliterating the spirit or the letter of the text.

I believe in the Second Amendment BUT one step better than a good guy stopping a bad guy with a gun would be to put for a little effort at making sure the bad guy never had a gun to start with.

I believe in the Second Amendment BUT I believe that when gun violence is the NUMBER ONE cause of death in US and Arkansas children, we have definitely lost sight of our priorities if we care more about our guns than our children.

I believe in the Second Amendment, I enjoy shooting clay and paper targets and I support the sport of safe hunting. The NRA originated as a gun safety organization but promoting gun safety does not generate as much money as promoting gun rights. I believe it is time to coordinate with gun advocacy groups to work toward generating a society culture that promotes responsibility at least as much (if not more) than rights when it comes to gun ownership.

Sewn by Neighbors

A living Ecosystem

Help us tend the physical soil and the civic roots of our community ecosystem directly.

Spreading seeds today for a brighter healthy tomorrow.

I believe that establishing identification and citizenship should be sensible and reasonable when exercising the right and responsibility to vote. And then, I believe that everyone who has met those criteria should have the opportunity to vote with minimal effort.

I believe the earth is round and rotates around the sun and that we did land men on the moon. While this seems obvious to most, unfortunately in this day and age, it probably should be said.

I believe that a good quality serviceable lectern podium can be purchased for less than nineteen thousand dollars.

I believe that you and I do not have to agree one hundred percent on everything for us to work together.

I believe leadership should lead us to be our best selves.

I believe in Arkansas, and I believe we can be better.
